A Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is an area within the United States considered to be outside U.S. Customs territory. The Piedmont Triad Partnership is the grantee and manager of Foreign Trade Zone #230. Sites are located in Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford and Surry counties, in a variety of industrial settings.
Companies that import components for distribution or that manufacture finished products for export enjoy simplified customs entry procedures and duty deferrals. Duties are only paid when goods are exported for US consumption, and goods shipped internationally from a Foreign Trade Zone are exempt from U.S. duty payments. Thus, companies located in FTZ #230 zones can maximize cash flow while minimizing taxes and fees.
The Piedmont Triad Partnership is interested in marketing FTZ status to businesses that will create jobs and increase economic activity in the Zone. There are many benefits to locating in FTZ #230. Contact us directly to discuss the benefits of FTZ #230.
